Sharon's back again

Sharon Watts is coming back to Albert Square again - for dad Dirty Den's second demise.

New EastEnders boss John Yorke is desperate to get busty blonde actress Letitia Dean, a real ratings puller, back into the Square, according to The Sun's TV Biz.

Den is murdered with a blow from a dog-shaped doorstop - almost as bad as the gun-in-the-daffodils plot years back, when he fell in the river and disappeared.

Sharon is set to play a big part in the final scenes, to be screened on the 20th anniversary of 'Enders on 18 February.

Here's a sure-fire plot for the next Jane Tennyson series: new producer of long-time top-rated BBC soap found murdered in her office. The Prime Suspect? Millions of (former) fans of EastEnders!

That's my current fantasy as regards Louise Berridge. The havoc she has been wreaking on EastEnders is sure to take its toll in viewership. What I find truly disturbing is the contempt she seems to feel for long-time followers of EE.

For those EE fans out there following my Postcards, I want to apologize for the last few weeks with nothing new to say. To be honest, I am bored of griping about the current quality of EE. Unfortunately, the latest episodes have given me little positive drama to comment on. However, so many new observations have been springing to mind over the past few weeks, that even if I'm back to whinging, I thought I'd share them with the Walford Web readers, and see if anyone else feels the same way.

When it was recently announced that John Yorke was vacating the producer's chair at EastEnders, and new producer Louise Berridge would be helming the show, hopes were high that storylines would be improving. After all, it was John Yorke who had steered the show into its current emphasis on murder, mayhem, and illicit sex. It was John Yorke who master-minded the Slater family and then made them the central characters on EastEnders. And it was Yorke's terrible idea to make Jamie Mitchell & Sonia Jackson a couple as well as have Sonia suddenly go bonkers and kidnap Chloe.

Some Random Thoughts and other miscellany:

For someone out £30,000, Phil Mitchell seems rather sanguine. Hasn't ANYONE noticed that Melanie Owens has skipped out on her bail? Maybe it's different here in the U.S., but when someone fails to show up for a hearing, then the bail is forfeit. Since Phil kindly put up the money, doesn't that mean he has now lost the cash? The Phil Mitchell of old would have had every dodgy character in the UK beating the bushes for her! What gives?
