Sharon's return storyline revealed

Sharon turns to Phil in her time of need as Letitia Dean returns to EE. 

Letitia, who is one of Walford's most recognisable faces, left EastEnders in 2006 after a five-year stint on the show in which she reprised her role of Sharon, who had originally been in the series from 1985 to 1995.

The daughter of infamous Albert Square villain Dirty Den, Sharon fled Walford after the death of her husband Dennis Rickman, but is set to return in a dramatic new storyline.

Actor Steve McFadden - best known for playing the character Phil Mitchell in the BBC soap opera EastEnders - today accepted undisclosed libel damages in the High Court after a tabloid newspaper suggested that he may have been guilty of harassing a former girlfriend.

Lawyers told a judge that McFadden sued after the News of the World reported his arrest in relation to "alleged harassment to cause violence" in a November 2010 article headed: "Nicked! Exclusive: Cops Arrest Enders Star."

Steve McFadden has praised the decision to bring Letitia Dean back to EastEnders.

It was reported earlier this month that Dean is to reprise her role as Sharon Watts, making her comeback in the summer.

Speaking to The People, McFadden - who plays Phil Mitchell - said: "We've a lot of history in the show. When Letitia was here, it was the golden era of EastEnders.

"I'm happy about her returning. I reckon they must have some good plots in the pipeline for us."

An insider told The Sun newspaper: "It is a clash of the titans. Phil knows his family are struggling but can he really lose face to Derek?"

The past comes back to bite the Mitchell hardman next year.

The skeletons are set to come marching out of Phil Mitchell’s closet in 2012, according to reports in The Sun, when police arrest him for the death of Kevin Wicks and re-open the investigation into fiancée Stella Crawford’s death.

Avid viewers would have seen Phil being tormented by a mystery stalker over the past few weeks for his involvement in the 1994 car lot fire, but the story will take a dramatic twist when his other past dodgy deals come back to haunt him.

Another tabloid report has emerged for the fire due to take place in Kimberley's Palace B&B this Christmas.

The Mirror claims that Yusef Khan, played by Ace Bhatti, will perish in the blaze, with Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden), Masood Ahmed (Nitin Ganatra) and Tamwar Masood (Himesh Patel) all suffering injuries.

An EastEnders insider told the paper: “This is the biggest fire EastEnders has ever seen and there will be casualties. It is such a huge disaster that it will affect most of the families on the show in one way or another.

EastEnders star Steve McFadden has praised the storyline surrounding his on-screen son Ben Mitchell's sexuality.

Ben, played by 16 year old Joshua Pascoe, will share a kiss with new friend Duncan later this week - but it soon becomes clear that he is desperate to stop dad Phil from finding out he is gay.

Speaking of his alter-ego's likely reaction to the news, McFadden speculated that Phil would not immediately accept his son's sexuality if the truth emerged.

EastEnders hardman Steve McFadden has shown his tender side by showering pregnant co-star Laurie Brett with baby gifts.

The actress, 40, who plays Jane Beale, is expecting her first baby in May. And she revealed the actor who plays Walford bruiser Phil Mitchell has been trying to help.

Laurie said: “I keep arriving to find Steve has left gifts, including a beautiful crib. He’s been like Santa.”

The storyline has seen Michael and Jack rekindle their friendship of old, opening a new gym together, which is causing Ronnie to be increasingly concerned that Michael will recognise 'James' as his own son.

In scenes to be aired next week, Ronnie will get Phil to help her get rid of Michael permanently so that she can keep her guilty secret.
