Stacey Branning

Lacey: No regrets

Lacey talks about upcoming roles and her departure from Walford

Lacey Turner says she has no regrets about leaving her award-winning role as Stacey Slater in EastEnders.

The young actress walked away from her high-profile, regular soap job, which had seen her win a whole shelf-load of acting gongs, in 2010, to take on new projects. But she has no doubts she made the right move.

Lacey said: "It was a hard decision because I loved playing Stacey and I loved my time there, but it just got to a point where I'd been there for seven years and I was curious [about what else was out there] - and once I'm curious, I'm gone."

Lacey in quit-pact with Charlie Clements

Lacey Turner has revealed she decided to leave the soap after screen husband Charlie Clements made his decision to go.

The actress has played Stacey Branning for six and a half years, but bows out on Christmas Day.

Actor Charlie left the soap in dramatic fashion in February, when his character Bradley Branning plunged to his death from an Albert Square building during the show’s 25th anniversary live episode.

Lacey said: "I’d always told Charlie ’I’ll go when you go’. He said he was going so I made my decision the day after. I’d been thinking about it but wasn’t quite brave enough before then.
