Phil Mitchell

"Stupid is as stupid does" according to Forrest Gump. Obviously, he had been watching EastEnders when that statement was coined! Just about every current storyline in the episodes aired by BBCA recently hinge upon plot points that are so brainless as to be laughable.

For those EE fans out there following my Postcards, I want to apologize for the last few weeks with nothing new to say. To be honest, I am bored of griping about the current quality of EE. Unfortunately, the latest episodes have given me little positive drama to comment on. However, so many new observations have been springing to mind over the past few weeks, that even if I'm back to whinging, I thought I'd share them with the Walford Web readers, and see if anyone else feels the same way.

If you have read any of the previous Postcard's archived here on the Walford Web, you may have noticed a prevalent theme that runs thru them; to whit, "current EastEnders episodes are inferior to those in the past".

Some Random Thoughts and other miscellany:

For someone out £30,000, Phil Mitchell seems rather sanguine. Hasn't ANYONE noticed that Melanie Owens has skipped out on her bail? Maybe it's different here in the U.S., but when someone fails to show up for a hearing, then the bail is forfeit. Since Phil kindly put up the money, doesn't that mean he has now lost the cash? The Phil Mitchell of old would have had every dodgy character in the UK beating the bushes for her! What gives?

In view of the current Olympic coverage, I thought it might be nice to award the residents of Walford (past and present) some medals of their own. So, without further ado…

For Non-Stop Whinging: no contest here, Lisa Shaw gets the gold; in previous years, Gita Kapoor & Bianca Butcher both worked this area, but neither ever achieved the truly staggering heights of Lisa Shaw. So, no Silver or Bronze awarded in this category!

Well, EastEnders is at it again, involving it's viewers in not 1 but 2 legal storylines simultaneously. Of course, one story is a criminal investigation (the "attempted murder" of Trevor Morgan by his wife Little Mo) & the other is a custody battle between birth-father Phil Mitchell & the baby's legal parents Lisa Shaw & Mark Fowler. Two very different stories, yet being a long-time EE watcher, they bring familiar questions to my mind.
