Phil Mitchell

Suzy tells Phil she's pregnant

EastEnders hardman Phil Mitchell is in for a shock - when girlfriend Suzy Branning tells him she is pregnant.

Phil (Steve McFadden) has moved in with the trouble-making blonde (Maggie O'Neill) but is starting to get cold feet.

Suzy drops the baby bombshell, but it's not long until Phil gets suspicious. An insider said: "Suzy says she's pregnant but knowing how manipulative she is, it could be a ploy to keep Phil.

"Suzy makes herself unpopular to the point where she’s not welcome in Albert Square."

Summer (not so) Special

And so, Phil Mitchell pulled the lid off his own Pandora's Box and flung the contents everywhere. I anticipated a complete meltdown, but all we had was crisis-lite. It started promisingly, with poor Ben, wild eyed with fear and Phil losing control; his outburst about being beaten by his own father and anger towards his mother seemed to be leading to a big confrontation with Peggy. But it didn't happen, instead we had a flat bit of dialogue between him and Archie, full of pull yourself together/draw a line under it codswallop.

Phil reveals some shocking home truths

Family, or "fam-lee" as the residents of Albert Square would say, is the focus of this week's event in Walford. First off, Peggy and Archie's rather sudden decision to tie the knot sparks tension within the Mitchell camp as Ronnie suspect's her dad's true motives. Needless to say, this doesn't sit too well with Peggy who is growing tired of Ronnie's drunken rants about how evil her father is. Aren't we all?

'Enders actor has emergency arm op

EastEnders actor Steve McFadden was rushed to hospital last week for an emergency arm operation following an accident on set.

McFadden, who has played Phil Mitchell since 1990, shattered his hand after falling down a staircase. The surgery involved placing metal pins in his hand and closing the wound with 30 stitches.

Scriptwriters have written the injury into the storyline so as to avoid disruption to filming schedules.

EastEnders' summer of red hot plots

EastEnders bosses are apparently promising viewers a summer of red hot plots.

The residents of Albert Square are going to be rocked by a series of dramas and romances, according to the Daily Star.

A source told the paper: "Fans won't know what has hit them with these plots."

Max Branning - played by Jake Wood - apparently returns to Walford after daughter Abi (Lorna Fitzgerald) sends him a text pretending to be from his wife Tanya begging him to come home.

Ian Beale: Cheap as chips

Like that other famous Eastender, Sir Alan Sugar, Ian Beale is a local boy made good. He may not have an 800k property portfolio, but a cafe, chippy and a 'gaylite' catering business isn't bad going. Ten years ago, I can imagine Ian applying to go on 'The Apprentice'; sitting there with that obsequious smile on his face: 'I'll give it 110%, I'm the best salesman in the universe, I will batter the opposition'...etc etc.

A Cracking Time...

Ah Easter! A time of bunnies, bonnets and boxes of chocolates. All of which sounds like an episode of 'Cranford' only set in the Playboy mansion with a guest appearance by the Milk Tray Man. Sorry - I've obviously had too much chocolate already, the sugar has rushed to my head! Anyway, with a nice long weekend and a thriller of an EastEnders story in motion, I thought I'd indulge in a tabloid style holiday barometer:

UP Heather Trott - finally some kind of explanation as to why she acts like an eight year old

Fancy a Mini Mo?

And so the annual works outing is to be cancelled due to budgetary cutbacks. No Phil gently purpling in the Spanish sun or Peggy in one of her fetching hats. They're not even going to Norfolk. I think it's generally agreed that this is a bit of a shame, and in the absence of an old fashioned whip-round, I've thought of a few money making schemes that could top up the holiday fund.

'EastEnders' scrap plans for Spain episodes

EastEnders producers have been forced to scrap plans to film a week's worth of episodes in Spain.

Chiefs had hoped to send the Mitchell family abroad for a special summer storyline, but they were told that it would not be possible due to cutbacks at the BBC.

"There's been a lot of cost-cutting recently and they couldn't justify taking the Mitchells abroad," an insider told the Daily Star Sunday. "They then hoped to keep the same dates and take them to Norfolk but it was even dearer. They're now looking at the south coast.

Lonely Hearts

February is the month of Valentines, although for some EastEnders folk there seems to be a distinct lack of love and romance. It's about time to redress the balance, enough of Jackonnie, what about - Phil Mitchell. He needs some serious lurve action; there he is, middle-aged, slightly pie bound and living with his mother. It's not on.
