Boris’ EastEnders appearance ’biased’

Former London mayor Ken Livingstone has criticised the BBC for allowing Boris Johnson to appear in a guest role in an episode of EastEnders.

Mr Livingstone said he was turned down twice by the show, including in 2006 when he wanted to promote recycling.

He said: "They told me it wouldn’t be right to have a politician on a soap."

Mr Johnson defended his cameo, to be aired on BBC One on Thursday night, saying it was his job to "promote" arts, culture and media sectors.

Boris Johnson blew his EastEnders lines

Mayor of London Boris Johnson fluffed his lines when he filmed his cameo in EastEnders, it emerged yesterday.

Show veteran Barbara Windsor said: “Boris said to me, ‘I think I know my lines,’ but we got a little bit of comedy accidentally.

“He did something then said, ‘Oh I shouldn’t have done that!’ But I told him to keep it in on the take.”

Boris makes EastEnders appearance

Mayor of London Boris Johnson is to make a guest appearance on the BBC soap EastEnders later this year.

He will appear in a scene set in the show’s Queen Vic pub where he has an argument with landlady Peggy Mitchell, who is played by Barbara Windsor.

The scene will be in an episode showing Peggy, who recently became involved in local politics, enduring a frustrating time trying to track him down.

The scene with Mr Johnson was filmed last Friday and will air this autumn.

EastEnders in yob fright

EastEnders actors threatened to halt filming and go home after scenes being shot on a beach were disrupted by a gang of abusive yobs.

Stars including Rob Kazinsky (Sean), Rita Simons (Roxy) and Barbara Windsor (Peggy Mitchell) were yelled at by the thugs.

The actors were so upset they threatened to walk off the set in Weymouth, Dorset, unless bosses brought in extra security.

A show insider said yesterday: “The lads were screaming sexual slurs and abuse.

Frank's that, then

Monday, the beginning of a week of remembrance and returns for Albert Square. Following Friday’s revelation that Pat was leaving the Square, yes I nearly died at that horrible thought too, Peggy was out to convince her to stay in the Square with all her convincing skills she was as subtle as Pat’s earrings. The wedding scenes were long I agree but they stood for metaphors etc for Peggy and Pat’s relationship. The return of Ricky and Diane was really interesting to watch, especially Pat’s reaction.
