Kat to cheat on Alfie

Haven't we been here before? Who's the mystery man this time? 

Kat Moon (played by Jessie Wallace) is set to return to Walford, and to celebrate coming back to Albert Square, EastEnders’ writers have written a shock storyline which will see her cheat on her much-loved husband Alfie (Shane Ritchie) with a mystery lover.

TV bosses are so keen to keep the identity of Kat’s fling a mystery, that they haven’t even shared the secret with the other cast members!

Jessie Wallace returns to the Square in June. 

Jessie Wallace arrives back on our screens on Thursday 7 June. The EastEnders favourite was temporarily written out of EastEnders as she struggled with the heartbreak of cancelling her wedding last summer.

In the run-up to Kat's return, we'll see Kat's on-screen husband Alfie pays a visit to his wife and then returns to the Square with her a fortnight later.

Five accolades for Enders at Inside Soap Awards

It's another rewarding night out for the cast of EastEnders.

EastEnders saw off the competition at the Inside Soap Awards in London to bag an impressive five gongs, including the award for Best Soap.

The BBC One serial’s victory in the top category takes this award season’s tally of Best Soap wins up to 7, out of a possible 7.

Jessie Wallace also collected her fourth Best Actress award of the year for her portrayal of fiery Kat Moon.

Three-stenders, as Walford nabs an award hatrick

EastEnders was triumphant at the TV Choice Awards in London this week, as the cast took home three accolades on the night - best actor, actress, and soap - but it also lost out in the Best Newcomer and Best Storyline categories to its Mancunian rival, Coronation Street.

Shane Richie secured the Best Actor award, while on-screen wife Jessie Wallace repeated her British Soap Awards success by winning her third Best Actress award of the year.

Baby swap storyline cleared by Ofcom

Eight months, thousands of complaints, and one departure later, Ofcom says storyline was ok.

The broadcasting watchdog Ofcom has ruled that scenes from EastEnders’ baby swap storyline were not “unduly disturbing or graphic”.

A record 23,000 complaints were received by the BBC earlier this year, while over a thousand complaints were put to Ofcom after the broadcast of the New Year’s eve double-bill that saw Ronnie Mitchell lose her baby boy to cot death and take Kat Moon’s newborn son to replace him in her state of shock.

Kat Moon is set to face more baby heartbreak this Summer when she suffers a miscarriage, according to the Daily Star.

In emotional scenes coming up Kat will discover she’s expecting husband Alfie’s baby – despite the fact he believes he is infertile. However, in a tragic twist of fate, Kat becomes ill and loses the baby shortly afterwards.

Enders named Best Continuing Drama by BAFTA

Hot on the heels of their win at the British Soap Awards, EastEnders added another piece of silverware to their trophy haul this weekend, winning the ‘Best Continuing Drama’ BAFTA.

‘I’m proud accept this on behalf of the fantastic people up at EastEnders, who continue to make drama – fantastic drama – week in, week out,’ said actress Lindsey Coulson, on receiving the award.

Whilst spotting the fashion victors and victims on this year’s British Soap Awards red carpet, you may have noticed some members of the EastEnders cast accessorising their outfits with yellow badges, bearing the name ‘Noah’s Ark’.

Shane Richie is a celebrity ambassador for the children’s hospice, which supports life-limited and life-threatened children in North London.
