Internet safety and you ...

Here’s some helpful reminders of how to stay safe on the internet and avoid fakes.

The internet is a wonderous place filled with cute animals, fairies, puppy dogs, hilarious videos and other fantastic things such as Walford Web and Digital Spy.

Sadly it’s also an evil pit of despair full of people determined to steal your credit card numbers, trick you into thinking you’re talking to celebrities or lull you into a false sense of security.

So, if you’re thinking of doing anything ridiculously stupid on the internet you need to take a few minutes to read these simple guidelines.

EastEnder Jo's web alert

Jo Joyner is warning fans not to be duped by people impersonating her on the internet. The actress, 30, who plays Tanya Branning in the soap, voiced her fears after discovering that youngsters were being duped into believing they were chatting to her on sites such as Facebook. She told Inside Soap: “It really worries me as I don’t have a Facebook or Bebo profile or anything like that. “We’ve had instances where kids have arranged to meet up with me – or some of the other EastEnders actors – in person. But it’s not really us they’re speaking to. It’s a pretty scary situation.
