Michelle Ryan voted worst American accent

Former EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan has topped a poll of the worst attempts at a US accent.

Ryan, 24, recently starred as Jaime Sommers in the US show Bionic Woman, before it was cancelled after just one season due to the writers' strike.

Comedian Eddie Izzard came second in the Radio Times poll for his performance as Wayne Malloy in The Riches.

Another former British soap star, Anna Friel, took the bronze medal for the worst US accent after her turn as Charlotte 'Chuck' Charles in Pushing Daises.

Bionic gives ITV2 record ratings

The first episode of US TV drama The Bionic Woman has given ITV2 its largest ever audience, initial figures suggest.

The show, starring former EastEnders actress Michelle Ryan, was watched by an average of 2.2 million viewers, according to overnight figures.

The digital channel's previous best was 1.9 million viewers for Footballers' Wives: Extra Time in 2005.

But the remake of the 1970s favourite is expected to be axed by US network NBC after just one series.

Bionic Woman to be scrapped

Michelle Ryan's big break in America is set to end in disappointment.

The ex-EastEnders star stunned Hollywood by landing the lead role in the much anticipated remake of 70s hit The Bionic Woman, but the show is reportedly about to be axed.

After a solid start in September the ratings have slowly plummeted, forcing its makers NBC to consider scrapping it.

The show began with 13.9million viewers, compared to its last episode which drew below 6million.

A final decision is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.

Michelle Ryan set for massive success

Former Eastenders actress Michelle Ryan is set for massive success in the US with her new series the 'Bionic Woman.'

Seen here in the first images released of her in the role, Ryan will play Jamie Sommers, a tennis pro who suffers a near-fatal skydiving accident before her body is transformed with £25million worth of bionic wizardry.

The actress best known for her role as Zoe Slater in EastEnders beat off stiff competition from Hollywood actresses to land the role.

Michelle Ryan to be Bionic Woman

Former 'EastEnders' star Michelle Ryan is to play the lead role in the pilot episode of a new US version of the 1970s TV show 'The Bionic Woman'.

The Hollywood Reporter says that Ryan, who played Zoe Slater in 'EastEnders' for five years, will play a character who has $50m worth of technology implanted in her body.

The original version of 'The Bionic Woman' starred Lindsay Wagner and was a spin-off of another hit 1970s TV series, 'The Six Million Dollar Man'.

Since leaving 'EastEnders' Ryan has starred in 'Marple' and 'Jekyll'.
