Melissa Suffield axed

The actress who plays Lucy Beale has been axed, according to now confirmed reports.

The Daily Star Sunday newspaper exclusively reported last night that actress Melissa Suffield, who plays Lucy Beale on EastEnders, has been axed from the show. The 17-year-old will not be renewing her contract, after what the paper cites as ‘unruly behaviour’ off-set.

Suffield joined the soap in 2004, as the third actress to play the Beale twin.

An EastEnders spokeswoman has confirmed that the actress will be leaving in the summer when her contract comes to an end.

She said: “She’s had a fantastic six years and we wish her the best of luck.”
