EastEnders returns to St Albans to do more filming for Ricky and Bianca’s wedding
A chuch in St Albans was swarming with the cast of EastEnders on Thursday (28 January) as film crews captured the final shots of characters Ricky and Bianca tying the knot for a second time.
Camera crews took over St Peters Church in St Peters Street to shoot the final scenes of what promises to be the soap wedding of the decade.
Bianca and Ricky, played by Patsy Palmer and Sid Owen, first married in 1997, but were divorced two years following the feisty red-head’s illicit affair with her mum’s fella.
But despite a nine year break, the popular pair rekindled their romance at Christmas, with Ricky Butcher this time seizing the initiative.
Intrigued passers by got a sneak peak of the action.
A bleary-eyed Sid Owen, suited and booted, strolled onto the set awaited by his blushing bride Bianca, laden in a table-cloth wedding dress.
Perry Fenwick, who plays Billy Mitchell, also stood in the archway of the church along with Bianca’s betrayed mother Carol Jackson, played by Lindsey Coulson, who will make a return to the soap for her daughter’s big day.
Ricky and Bianca’s nuptials promises to be the soap wedding of the year, if not the decade, with the return of the Jackson clan, including Sonia as bridesmaid, and Robbie as Usher.
But Bianca is furious when Carol stumbles in on the middle of the I do’s. Viewers have been warned to expect lots of shouting and cat fights. But on the set today there was a general calm, with not one punch being thrown among the cast.
The BBC1 soap wedding will be aired in February to mark the soaps 25th anniversary.
The crew first began filming at the medieval church in St Peters Street in November.
