'EastEnders' star speaks about love split

EastEnders star Kara Tointon has admitted that she "can't bear" the thought of James Alexandrou finding a new girlfriend.

The actress, better known as Walford's Dawn Swann, started dating James, who played Martin Fowler, after they fell for each other on the set of the soap in 2006. However, the pair split in November last year amidst claims that they had "drifted apart".

Asked how she would feel if James found love again, Kara told the News of the World: "I can't bear the thought of it, but I know it's going to happen and I'll deal with it then."

Tointon also revealed that the relationship ended because she was not ready to settle down with James, who left EastEnders at the beginning of 2007.

"I did think he was The One, but it got to the point where the next step was to move in together and we both felt we hadn't really seen enough of life yet," Kara explained. "He's also two years younger than me and we felt it was important to experience being single and learn a bit more about ourselves before settling down."
