The brother of murdered Gemma McCluskie appears in court over the death of the actress

The brother of murdered EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie appeared in court today, accused of killing the 29-year-old and dumping her remains in London's Regent's Canal.

Tony McCluskie confirmed his name, address and date-of-birth during a short appearance at Thames Magistrates Court this morning.

Chair of the bench Cliff Lynn told McCluskie that a bail hearing would take place within the next 48 hours adding, "You are remanded in custody. A preliminary hearing has been provisonally set for March 26th".

The remains of Gemma McCluskie were recovered from Regent's Canal on Tuesday 6th March, two days after she was reported to be missing. The actress, who played Kerry Skinner in EastEnders between 2000 and 2001, was last seen alive on March 1st.
