Enders Exec talks up his new arrivals.
The new Moon Men, brothers Tyler and Anthony who arrive in Albert Square in the coming weeks, have been described by Executive Producer Bryan Kirkwood as ‘a much-needed injection of testosterone.’
Speaking in the Radio Times, Kirkwood said, ‘EastEnders has a long history of successful fools – from Nigel Bates through Robbie Jackson, to Minty Peterson – but I want more men who are winners.'
The EastEnders boss also told the magazine that he looked to the popularity of Arthur ‘Fatboy’ Chubb’s character as a model for success. Actor Ricky Norwood picked up the Most Popular Newcomer Award at last January’s National TV Awards for his portrayal, after a very successful transition from the E20 spin-off to the mainstream soap last year.
‘What that showed,’ Kirkwood said of Fatboy’s success, ‘was that characters had to have an authenticity to thrive.
‘What I hope we’ve created in Tyler and Anthony are blokes you might see in the pub on a Friday night with an appetite for life – and for women.’
Tyler Moon, played by Tony Discipline, joins his father Eddie in Walford next week. Older Anthony, played by Matt Lapinskas will follow later this summer.
