Mandy Salter is to return to Walford after 17 years

EastEnders bosses have announced that Nicola Stapleton is to reprise her role as Mandy Salter following a 17 year absence from the show.

Mandy was last seen in 1994 when she left Walford after being dumped by her boyfriend Aidan Brosnan.

The residents of Albert Square are in for a shock when she makes a surprise return to the area later this year.

As Mandy settles back into Walford, it will become clear that she has grown up a bit since her last appearance, but she remains fun, chaotic and wild.

Speaking of her return, Stapleton said: "I'm looking forward to playing Mandy again - it will be interesting to see what she's been up to all this time. I'm excited to be coming back and working with some old friends."

EastEnders fans can expect to see Mandy's comeback scenes in the autumn.
