Natalie Cassidy decides to avoid TV

Former EastEnders star Natalie Cassidy has vowed to stay away from the small screen for a year in a bid to avoid being typecast.

The actress, who joined the soap 13 years ago, said she made the decision because most viewers know her as Sonia Fowler.

Her latest project is joining the touring version of hit play The Vagina Monologues.

However, there's one thing the brunette is not so keen to take part in - reality TV.

"You'd have to drag me into the jungle screaming," she told the Sun.

Cassidy enjoyed several juicy storylines during her time on the serial.

Among them were the demise of her first love Jamie Mitchell (Jack Ryder), having a lesbian fling and being accused of Pauline Fowler's (Wendy Richard) death.
