Hardman Phil Is Scarier Than Dirty Den

Phil Mitchell has been voted television's scariest character. The EastEnder kicked Den Watts into touch, forcing Walford's original hardman into second place.The BBC soap's wife-beating Trevor Morgan bagged third place.

The poll was carried out by Woolworths to mark Halloween.

A Woolworths spokeswoman said: "The reaction to Phil and Den's duel in Eastenders has been amazing."

The top ten scariest characters on TV is:
1. Phil Mitchell, EastEnders
2. Den Watts, EastEnders
3. Trevor Morgan, EastEnders
4. Richard Hillman, Coronation Street
5. Toby Mills, Hollyoaks
6. Trevor Jordache, Brookside
7. Cain Dingle, Emmerdale

9. Tony Soprano, The Sopranos
