Max hit in hit and run whodunnit

EastEnders' Max Branning is left fighting for his life at the end of the month when he is dramatically mown down in a hit-and-run.

Former EastEnders star Jessie Wallace has become the fourth celebrity contestant to be knocked out of the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing series. 'Dying' Richard marries partner

Ex-EastEnders star Wendy Richard has married her partner, John Burns, ahead of receiving treatment for cancer. Former colleagues including Todd Carty, who played Richard's son Mark Fowler in the BBC One soap, were at the ceremony at a hotel in London's Mayfair. They were joined by her on-screen daughter-in-law Natalie Cassidy, who played Sonia Jackson, and Laila Morse, best known as Mo Harris. The BBC has been flooded with complaints after screening a gay kiss on EastEnders before the 9pm watershed. The 'offensive' scenes were screened on Tuesday's episode of the soap and showed Christian Clarke (John Partridge, 36) and Lee Thompson (Carl Ferguson, 27) engage in a passionate kiss. In a statement the BBC defended itself by saying it was down to parents to decide whether the content of the show was suitable for children to watch. BBC inundated with more complaints

The BBC has received more than 100 complaints after EastEnders showed a Muslim breaking their Ramadan fast by eating a snack on the soap opera.

It is believed that a large number of Muslims were angered by the recent storyline involving character Masood Ahmed claiming it insulted their religion.

The married Asian postman, played by Nitin Ganatra, was spotted by wheel-chair bound character Ian Beale having a bite to eat during the holy month.

Look out Dot, Nick is home!

Nick Cotton is on his way back to EastEnders, according to reports in The Sun.

Nick, one of Walford’s most notorious villains, will return to telly’s Albert Square this Christmas to torment his long-suffering mum Dot.

The soap creep, played by John Altman, has spent the past few years banged up for drug offences.

But he returns hoping Dot, veteran actress June Brown, will welcome him home with open arms.

Nick, who appeared in the BBC soap’s very first episode in 1985, was last seen in June 2001.

Soap rivals fuming after awards

Soap wars exploded last night as EastEnders hammered its rivals to be crowned the nation’s favourite show.

Pretty Lacey Turner led a Walford invasion at the Inside Soap Awards, walking away with three gongs, ­including Best Actress. The show bagged nine of the top prizes, leaving their rivals fuming.
