Babs signs to host funny women Radio 2 show
Barbara is to front a new show on Radio 2 looking at female comics
Former EastEnders star Barbara Windsor has signed up to host a Radio 2 show celebrating female comics.
Barbara will look back at the lives and careers of British and US comediennes in a new six-part series.
Speaking of the series Robert Gallacher, Radio 2's commissioning editor, said: "We previously put a spotlight on some iconic British male comics. Now it's the ladies' turn."
The series will run in two halves: Barbara Windsor's Funny Girls, covering Hattie Jacques, Hylda Baker and Beryl Reid. The second half Barbara Windsor's Funny Gals, looks at the US's Lucille Ball, Betty Hutton and Phyllis Diller.
The first episode, covering Lancashire-born Hylda Baker, will air on July 5.
