Walford Web was launched on 28 February 1997, and was one of the first sites devoted to EastEnders - to put that into some perspective we're several years older than the official BBC EastEnders site.
We initially concentrated on providing full write-ups of every episode, but that proved to be an incredibly difficult thing to do, so we unfortunately stopped doing that in January 2000. Since then, we've concentrated on bringing you News, Spoilers, Gossip and it's our aim to be the best independent site out there.
As we've been around since 1997, it can be a bit daunting to find your way around the site, so we've tried to be logical with our layout.
You'll have probably noticed that the menu bar is colour-coded by theme, and that the site's layout changes colour every time you go to a different part of the site. That's a delibrate action on our part to make it obvious where you are in the site and what you can expect to see.
The News area of the site brings you the latest EastEnders headlines, and we try to bring you something new to read every day. Occasionally we can't, and that's typically because the news sources have dried up so there's nothing to report.
We're particularly proud of our Features. These are written by our features editors, all of whom are volunteers giving up their time to write their thoughts on EastEnders, both past and present. There's a large number of different columns for you to explore in the Features area.
Next up are probably what you've come to the site to find, our Spoilers. Spoilers are brief tidbits explaining what's coming up in EastEnders in the next few weeks - they're usually updated every Thursday or Friday.
Once episodes air, they drop off the Spoiler list but the details can still be found in the Episodes zone. We go right back to February 1997 (with a couple of gaps), but you can read up on your EastEnders history and get up to date there, handy if you're watching EastEnders from afar.
The EastEnders' Who's Who now sits on a sister site to us, Walford Wiki. Anyone can request an account and help to keep our cast database up to date.
Another hugely popular area is our Cast Photos gallery. We're licensed to use the BBC's official press photos, and there's hundreds of them to choose from, all sorted into galleries by character.
Blogs are a new addition to the site. They're like Features, but updated much more frequently. So that the Features don't drown in a sea of Blog updates, we've separated the two into their own areas of the site.
Last not least on our whistle-stop menu tour are the Forums, which again are a sister site over at Walford Web Forums. Membership is free, but you don't need to register to view. However, we strongly recommend you sign up for an account with us because if the forums are busy we sometimes restrict them to registered members only.
There's a few grey links on there, which don't fit into any of the sections.
From time to time, we'll add popular items to the menu, for example the spin off "E20" was added to the menu bar recently.
And there's a fantastic search facility on the site - either use the Google link or search by keyword.
So we're into our 14th year now and don't plan giving up any time soon. Dive in - try the Spoilers, News or a Search for your favourite character, and take it from there!
