2009 Awards: Favourite Family and Newcomer
So, the excitement of EastEnders: E20 has meant the 2009 Awards have sort of fallen by the wayside for the last week or so. I’m sure you’re dying to find out the rest of the results and how people voted.
Favourite Villain of 2009
Archie Mitchell (59.14%)
Lucas Johnson (19.07%)
Janine Butcher (17.12%)
Nick Cotton (4.67%)
Wow, that’s not even a competition. Archie Mitchell won this hands-down, and probably could have scored even more votes had the poll been allowed to go on for a bit longer. Add Janine’s third place score, and that gives us three in four people effectively voting for the same storyline.
Lucas could come to the fore if he continues to go on a killing spree in the next few months, and as for Nick Cotton, well it shows that the oldies but goodies continue to be popular villains whenever they return to Walford.
Favourite Storyline of 2009
Ronnie and Danielle reunited/Danielles death (39.15%)
Staceys Bi-Polar storyline (37.21%)
Christian and Syeds affair (17.44%)
Trinas death (6.20%)
Wow, a very close-run thing there. I won’t doubt that this is a good choice for the winner of the award, as Danielle’s death certainly caused the Forums to fall on their backside in quite spectacular fashion (typically coinciding with me being out of the country on business, and having to lose a week’s worth of posts).
I’ll be truthful and say that it wouldn’t have been my first choice, but then again nor would Stacey’s bi-polar storyline, and thirdly nor can I think of an alternative that I would have voted for it. So congratulations to Danielle and Ronnie here.
Still another five categories to go, so I’ll hit another couple of those tomorrow.

We relaunched our site in February 2010. Since the relaunch we've found that most of the site looks and works really well, but the top of the page was a bit messy and uninteresting. We've changed a few sections as an experiment.
The menu at the top of the page is still exactly the same as on other pages of the site and everything else is largely in the same place as before. It's just a bit more colourful, and we hope it's more attractive.
