In the second visit of the week to Albert Square, Peggy confronts Glenda in the R&R toilets about knowing that Archie abused Ronnie. As she does, Ronnie walks in but Glenda doesn’t reveal what they were talking about and walks out with Ronnie. Jack opens some champagne and Glenda makes a toast to her daughters as Peggy storms out, sickened. Glenda follows Peggy, spitefully saying that Ronnie won’t believe her and Peggy says that she’ll make Glenda tell the truth. Glenda gushes about her daughters, boring Pat who gets up and decides to leave with Peggy. Glenda drunkenly continues to order drinks at the bar but fear strikes her when she sees Peggy talking to Ronnie. Glenda rushes over to explain herself, thinking that Peggy has already told the truth. She drops herself in it as Peggy hadn’t yet revealed anything and a horrified Ronnie runs to the toilets where Roxy later comforts her. Glenda rushes into the office and Ronnie forces her to tell the truth. Glenda tries to excuse herself but there’s nothing that she can say. Ronnie tells Glenda that she will never be her mum and Roxy rushes home, packing up Amy’s stuff, telling Glenda that she will never see her again. Glenda is left sobbing on the sofa as Jack holds Ronnie tightly.
Meanwhile the bailiffs take action and chuck Shirley and Heather out. Having nowhere else to turn Shirley is force to turn to Phil who is deep in the throws of his drug addiction. When Rainie has no money for more drugs, Phil heads to the Arches and raids the cash box. Fearing for their boss, Minty and Ricky lock him in, and send for Shirley. Shirley tries to persuade him she can help him and ends up forcing him to choose between her and the drugs - which way will Phil turn?
