The residents of Albert Square struggle to come to terms with what Lucas has done.
Lucas is sitting in a Police cell reading the Bible. He takes pages from the bible to wipe blood from his fingertips before later giving it to a policeman saying it’s no use to him where he’s going. Meanwhile, Denise is in a private room at the hospital and a newspaper reporter (disguised as a Doctor) questions Denise. Upon hearing her name ’Mrs Johnson’, Denise chokes back the tears and explains that she must change her name. Much to the reporter’s delight, Denise admits that she wants to see Lucas so she can show him what he has done to her.
At the Salon, Chelsea is alone when Roxy appears. Chelsea explains that she needed to get out of the house, saying that a few weeks ago she was part of a normal family and now it has all fallen apart. This strikes a chord with Roxy who used to think the same about her family. Chelsea is upset to think her own father is a murderer and Roxy tries to reassure her saying that you can’t choose your family. When Chelsea returns home, she and Libby overhear Patrick’s conversation with Charlie in which he calls Lucas the devil. Chelsea reaches out to Libby, who is unable to speak. Charlie tries to support Patrick who has been getting constant calls from reporters trying to find out more details about what happened. Patrick feels deceived and is annoyed that he believed Lucas’ lies but Charlie says that he wasn’t alone in believing Lucas. Later, Libby shouts at Chelsea saying that Lucas can’t be a father anymore at which point Jordan appears.
Zainab and Tamwar sit with Patrick, Chelsea, Libby and Jordan. Chelsea asks if people are talking about Lucas and Zainab admits that they probably are. Later, Zainab helps to usher Chelsea, Patrick, Libby and Jordan into the back of Charlie’s cab. At the hospital, Patrick, Chelsea, Libby and Jordan walk down the corridor to be met by the reporter form earlier, now calling himself D.I Stevenson. He says that he needs to ask them some more questions but Zainab is suspicious and demands to see his official ID. Zainab grabs Chelsea, Jordan and Libby and pulls them away from the reporter while Patrick tells the reporter to leave them alone. They make their way into the private room to find Denise. Libby tries to probe Denise about what Lucas did to her but she doesn’t want to say in front of Jordan. Chelsea and Libby then argue about Lucas and as Chelsea storms out, Jordan goes to hit Denise. Denise looks at her broken family and later she tries to leave the hospital to go home and look after them.
Meanwhile Peggy is preparing sandwiches and fairy cakes as a treat for Ben. Phil says that he is taking Louise to visit Ben with them. Peggy doesn’t think it’s a good idea but understands why Phil wants to have Louise with him at all times in light of Lisa’s request to see her daughter. Later, Phil gets annoyed when he discovers that Peggy has interfered and asked Shirley to babysit Louise. When they arrive at the Detention Centre, Peggy and Phil wait before a bruised and beaten up Ben filed into the room. Peggy causes a scene about the bruises and goes to confront Cal, another young boy in the centre. Cal then towers over Peggy whilst Ben leaves the room. Phil is worried that Ben will come home a different boy but Peggy reassures him that they will all move back to the Vic and make it their home. When they get back to the Square, Pat shows Peggy the For Sale sign that has been placed on the pub.
Elsewhere Fat boy comforts Mercy who is upset about Lucas. Heather decides she won’t be having George christened after what Lucas has done. Dot is hurt by Heather’s decision and claims that God is there for everyone. Liz is stood staring at the spot where Lucas had buried her son. She says that she can’t keep looking out at this every day. She informs Dot that she has planned a burial for Owen but she hasn’t told Libby yet as she has enough on her plate already. Liz places a flower where Lucas buried Owen and later tells Dot she will tell Libby about the funeral before flying home. Darren talks to Max about how he and Jodie don’t need to have sex yet as there is more to romance but Max winds him up. Later, at the park, Zsa Zsa teases Darren about being nervous around Jodie and he gets fed up and storms off.
