She moved into the Vic at one point, but wasn't much of a landlady!Eventually she left Den and married an Italian lawyer named Dario. She briefly reappeared at Angie's funeral much to the consternation of Pat and Pauline. Instead of causing trouble though, she simply returned a portrait of Sharon that Den had left with her before once again leaving Walford. Viewers again saw Jan in the lead-up to Den's return; Dennis tracked her down, and discovered it was Jan who had helped Den escape The Firm and that she was still in touch with him.

At Xmas time Derek is preoccupied with getting to know his estranged son Alex, daughter Mary, & his grandson; since then he also reconciled with his ex-boyfriend. He never could seem to make the locals happy; after the furor over Bridge House died down, he and Kathy Mitchell became a little too close for the approval of his parishioners. Later he turned his attentions to Pauline Fowler and foolishly proposed to her in the Vic one night, even though she had turned down his advances in the past. Jeff didn't stay around in the Square after Pauline's rejection and left to work as a caretaker on a housing estate.

Christine Hewitt (Elizabeth Power)

Mrs. Hewitt was a rather stereotypical upper-middle-class widow with a lazy teenage son & a large garden. She hired Arthur Fowler to help with the garden, but she eventually ended up helping him, in ways that Pauline was certainly unhappy about! After Pauline brained Arthur with a frying pan, Mrs Hewitt did a quick fade into Albert Square mythology.

25 February 1992 to 7 October 1993

Jonathan Hewitt (Jonny Lee Miller)

Christine Hewitt's useless son, who had trouble getting out of bed in the morning. Christine managed to persuade Arthur to give him a job working in his gardening empire. 11 December 2008 to 12 December 2008, 5 February 2009

Sarah Hills (Daniela Denby-Ashe)

Sarah Hills had an eventful few years in Walford. We first met her as the confused daughter of Ted Hills, niece of Kathy Mitchell and younger sister to Tony Hills. She shoplifted her way to the attention of Alistair Matthews the cult leader, discovered the lord with his help, and became a rather hysterical do-gooder! After her inevitable disillusionment, deflowering by Robbie Jackson and a few nights on the streets, she returned to Walford less hysterical but still determined to do right. Engaged to almost every teen male in the Square at some point (Joe Wicks, Matthew Rose) Sarah went to college, provided a shoulder for mum Irene to lean on and eventually chose a life of her own away from Walford. Rumour has it she went to Bolton to reunite with first love Joe Wicks.

7/9/1995 - 8/10/1999

Ted Hills (Brian Croucher)

Kathy Mitchell's brother, who formerly ran a hardware shop in Bridge Street until he had to close it for financial reasons. Ted had an uncontrollable temper, usually triggered by some imagined threat to daughter Sarah's virtue! He landed Robbie Jackson in the hospital for what he assumed was a rape (in reality, Sarah had come on to Robbie & then fled the Square in shame). & nearly alienated gay son Tony Hills because of his inability to accept Tony's choice of partners. After losing almost every friend on the Square over his temper, Ted was offered a job in Dubai & left Walford. He currently lives in South Africa near his sister Kathy.

1995-1997

Tony Hills (Mark Homer)

Initially Tony Hills was the local drug dealer, supplying E along with business partner Dan. Despite acting like a yob, viewers eventually learned Tony's problems stemmed from a conflicted sexuality. Although living with Tiffany Raymond, Tony finally faced his gay side & fell in love with Tiff's brother Simon. All was not peaches however for later Tony had an affair with nosy news hen Polly Becker which eventually led to Simon's breaking off of their relationship. Mother Irene cheered the break-up although she herself was living with Simon's Dad, Terry! (What a family!) Eventually, Simon & Tony reunited (after Tiff's death) & left to travel Europe together.

1995-1999

Kendra Hills-Smythe (Rebecca Egan)

11 November 2008, 1 December 2008, 2 January 2009 to 8 January 2009

Garry Pelé Hobbs (Ricky Groves)

Poor Garry! Just as his life was looking up with baby Bobby accepted by jealous wife Lynne, and a baby on the way, everything fell apart; Bobby turned out to really be Ian's and went to live there while, Lynne was injured at a fair and miscarried their baby, Vivian. Following this, Lynne left the Square, and Garry was understandably depressed - he and Lynne had a very tumultous marriage, complicated by Laura's claim that he had fathered Bobby. Another thorn in Garry's side was that Sam promoted Minty to be his boss at the Arches. In Phil's absence, Minty found a new best mate and flatmate in Garry, who is now divorced. They spend most evenings at the Vic or at home in front of the telly, unless they're out vainly trying to "pull". Garry once 'celebrated 400 days without a woman', and his futile lust for Naomi has been transformed into a surprisingly affectionate friendship. A schism formed between the best friends recently, when Minty piled his affections, attentions, and money on his girlfriend, SJ, whom Garry suspected from the beginning. He was right.

18 September 2000 to present

Hazel Hobbs (Kika Mirylees)

Hazel, Garry's mother, first appeared in April 2007, when he bailed her out from her wedding. She briefly stayed in the square, where she and Minty hit it off, to her son's horror.

Minty and Hazel's relationship blossomed, and as a result she returned to the Square for a longer period of time towards the end of 2007, the two of them being engaged for a short period of time.

Hazel left Walford, supposedly for good, after experiencing the menopause.

10 April 2007 – February 2008; April 2008 (guest)

Lynne Marie Hobbs (Elaine Lordan)

The eldest of the Slater sisters, Lynne & husband Garry have had a rough time of it. Her inability to honor her marriage vows has twice caused problems in the marriage (first Beppe then old flame Jason), yet she doesn't seem to have learned compassion as she threw Garry out the first time his foot slipped! Lynne was expecting Garry's child when she had an accident & miscarried. Her grief caused her to leave Garry & Walford.

Later Angel called in Paul's debt by hiding wife Precious at the B&B while waiting to testify at a trial. Unfortunately for Angel the plan backfired when Precious & Paul started getting jiggy together. Acquitted at his trial, there is always the chance he'll return to make Paul's life hell.

2001, 2002

Precious (Marjorie) Hudson (Judi Shekoni)

Better known as Precious, she stayed at the Trueman's B & B having been left there by Paul's former boss Angel (her husband), until such time as she could testify at his trial. In the meantime she seduced Paul Trueman, got Patrick taken hostage and indirectly caused Garry Hobbs' hospitalisation when he was caught in a car bomb meant for her. She left Walford after revealing her feelings for Paul to her husband & asking for a divorce; his response was that she could have a divorce on the one condition that she never saw Paul again. Otherwise, Angel would kill them both. Precious left town that day.

An elaborate wedding was the result, but it was aborted by Alfie Moon's untimely arrival. Now involved as Samantha Mitchells' partner, he has his finger in nearly every dodgy deal that goes down in Walford & has done his best to split Alfie & Kat's marriage up.
